In The Line Of Duty

The Monument

The words ‘Stockton Fire Department’ conjure up a myriad of images and some of the most striking, undoubtedly, are of gleaming engines either speeding to the scene of a fire or already actively engaged in helping to extinguish some blaze. With the impressive array of apparatus employed over the years, sometimes the technology of firefighting has overshadowed the firefighters themselves. It is important that we never forget the men behind the machines, especially those who have given their lives in the ‘last full measure of devotion.’ (Tod Rustaller, Stockton’s Firefighters A Legacy of Service and Distinction)
